CAAAPU Model of Care

Culture at the Core of Healing

The CAAAPU Model of Care reflects the knowledge, experience and cultural foundations that guide our residential rehabilitation service. It is a flexible framework that places culture, identity and connection at the heart of healing, while recognising that every person’s journey is different.

The CAAAPU Model of Care provides a culturally safe and responsive framework for the way we support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people affected by alcohol and other drugs. At its heart is culture, ensuring our approach respects cultural practices, protocols, community connections and the individual needs of each client.

It is not a rigid approach. Our Model of Care provides a strong foundation while allowing our team to respond to each person’s circumstances, strengths, goals, family and community connections.

Healing and Treatment

The CAAAPU Model of Care supports a range of healing and treatment approaches, grounded in culture, identity and connection.

Each client is supported through person-centred planning and individualised care that responds to their needs, strengths and goals. Support may include counselling, group therapy, health and wellbeing support, cultural healing, connection to Country and opportunities to build practical life skills.

While each person’s journey is different, all support is delivered with cultural integrity, dignity and respect, with a shared focus on holistic healing and long-term wellbeing.
