The Safe Healing Program
The Arrella Mpwareme Apmerre Model Program is an Aboriginal culturally appropriate safe house located on the CAAAPU site. The Safe House includes traditional healing facilities and methods for clients with acute alcohol abuse problems. The Safe House provides treatment, medicine and healing as well as counseling, health treatment, education and referrals for detoxification.
The Safe Healing Program aims to:
Alleviate the distress and suffering caused by alcoholism and substance abuse by developing Aboriginal community based solutions to these major problems. Conduct and foster educational programs aimed at making Aboriginal people aware of the problems associated with alcoholism and other substance abuse. Coordinating alcohol and other substance abuse education. Intervention, treatment, counseling and training programs targeted at Aboriginal people of Central Australia. CAAAPU is a service which works in conjunction with other health agencies, corrections and community groups to resolve the problems of Alcohol and other Substance abuse in Aboriginal Communities. The success rate is based on the process of our clients attending and remaining committed to improving their circumstances and health. We provide health care, counseling and support to encourage our clients to lead productive lives, and with holistic solutions we are achieving successful outcomes.
