Smoking Ceremony 

Every Monday at CAAAPU starts with the smoking ceremony.

Up to 20 clients gather together in the smoking shed for a dose of bush medicine. A local plant recognised for its healing qualities by the Arrernte people is burnt, and as the smoke disappears there is a sense that the negativity that these men carry inside themselves also begins to fade away.

This is a positive and calming way in which to start every week, which is coupled with this the "CAAAPU Morning Serendipity Prayer" (click on the images to enlarge)

CAAAPU Morning Serenity Prayer    

As we raise our heads from shame to grace                 

God grant me the serenity to accept the things we can not change   

Courage to change the things we can   

And wisdom to know the difference 

So
